Dhaka: Mohammad Yunus, chief advisor to Bangladesh’s interim government, is planning to remove 64 senior military officers from the country’s army. Bangladesh Army Chief Waqar-uz-Zaman is also included in this. Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen, who is living in self-exile in India, has made this claim quoting ‘reliable sources’. Taslima wrote on social media platform
siege regarding student league
Along with this, Taslima also targeted Yunus regarding the ban on Chhatra League, the student wing of Awami League. Taslima wrote in another post, ‘Mr. Yunus is going crazy. He lifted the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Shibir, but banned Chhatra League, the student wing of Awami League, Bangladesh’s oldest political party. They also banned other Islamic terrorist organizations like Hizb-ut-Tahrir, Ansarullah Bangla Team.
Chhatra League banned in Bangladesh
On Wednesday, the interim government of Bangladesh had banned the Chhatra League. The Chhatra League has been accused of involvement in terrorist activities including murders and attacks during the anti-Hasina protests in July. According to the notification of the interim government, Chhatra League has been included in the list of terrorist organizations. Taslima has accused Yunus of taking advantage of the anti-discrimination front movement opposing Sheikh Hasina. He said, Yunus is grateful to the boys who ousted Sheikh Hasina as now he does not need to pay income tax of Tk 666 crore.
Yunus government was told illegal
Earlier, Taslima Nasreen had called Mohammad Yunus illegal, citing Sheikh Hasina’s resignation controversy. Citing the interview of Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin, Taslima said that ‘Sheikh Hasina had not resigned from her post of Prime Minister and she is still alive. Yunus government is illegal.
The Bangladeshi writer said in another post, ‘Everyone is lying in Bangladesh. The army chief said that Hasina has resigned. The President said that Hasina has resigned. Yunus said that Hasina has resigned. But no one has seen the resignation letter. Resignation is like God, everyone says it’s there, but no one can show or prove that it’s there.’
