Belarus intends to raise transport tax rates by 10 times on some comfortable cars. This is provided for by the draft amendments to the Tax Code. There is no final list of such cars yet, but Maybach and some other brands are expected to be included. Representatives of the Ministry of Taxes and Taxes reported this on Thursday, November 9, writes the Russian news agency Sputnik Belarus.
In addition to Maybach, there will probably be new Ferrari and Maserati, some models of Mercedes, BMW, and Audi.
“An important condition is that no more than three years have passed since the release of the vehicle,” emphasized Andrei Kovalevsky, head of the main department of taxation of individuals of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties.
Earlier it was reported that the increased transport tax could affect about 2.4 thousand cars.
Let us remind you that transport tax rates may change from 2024. In particular, the draft Tax Code provides for a tenfold increase for luxury cars. “For vehicles that have been manufactured for no more than three years and included in the list of luxury vehicles determined by the Council of Ministers, transport tax, including advance payments, is calculated at rates increased tenfold,” the bill says.
Officials also intend to increase standard vehicle tax rates. Its amount depends on the permitted maximum weight, capacity, or is prescribed for one vehicle unit. For example, for a car with a permissible maximum weight of up to 1.5 tons, you now have to pay 61 rubles a year, but they want to raise it to 66 rubles. At a rate increased tenfold, it will be 660 rubles if changes are introduced.
