Tens of thousands of students will study in Zoom

by time news

Tens of thousands of students from about 600 classes in post-primary education will stay home tomorrow (Sunday) and study in Zoom. Decisions on the Omicron strain will disrupt education in the education system, and thousands of students will return to online learning – as during the closure period in Corona.

The reason for this is the decision made last week, according to which among first-twelfth grades in red and orange localities where the vaccination rate is less than 70% – will study online, zoom. The decision will be applied in middle and high schools (seventh-twelfth grades) already From tomorrow morning. The Prime Minister and the Ministers also decided that this outline would also apply to the primary schools (grades 1-6), but there the decision would take effect in three weeks. The decisions made in the education system are meant to put pressure on parents to vaccinate their children. Recall that the proportion of vaccinated students in the education system stands at only 27.3%. In the lower strata, among 11-5 year olds, there are about 900,000 students who are not vaccinated (only 25% of students at these ages are recovering or vaccinated).

From tomorrow and for a week, the “education traffic light” will take effect, according to which the studies will take place. Ma’ale Adumim is a red authority, along with quite a few orange authorities, the most prominent of which is Rishon Lezion, the fourth largest city in the country. Givat Zeev, Elad, Beer Yaakov, Kedumim, Sakhnin, Mi’ilya and Kfar Yassif are also painted orange. Also, in Rishon Lezion, the Krayot district was defined as red.

Also, in major cities in the country, such as Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Petah Tikva, a number of districts are painted orange. This list of cities includes about 600 classes in which students stay to study from home. In addition, in some of the elementary schools in red and orange cities, contact between students will be reduced – so that they too may move to distance learning in half-grades or on certain days.

As of this weekend, there are 4,787 active Corona patients in the education system and another 38,000 students in isolation (after the conditions for exemption from isolation in the green classroom were tightened). This week, too, public health nurses will continue to vaccinate students in schools.
