After a long waiting period, Tesla began selling the Model Y in Israel in the RWD version, meaning rear-wheel drive. Meaning: unlike its dual drive versions that have been marketed in Israel so far, whose price starts at NIS 285,000, the price of a new Tesla Model Y starts (for those who are not interested in dual drive) at NIS 231,000. So far, Tesla has not marketed the rear-wheel drive version of the Model Y in Israel – but it was marketed in China.
In terms of specifications, the Y RWD model is able to travel a range of 455 kilometers according to the manufacturer’s data. For comparison, the Model Y in the basic dual drive version that has been marketed in Israel so far is capable of traveling 533 kilometers in the long range version. Beyond that, the Y model in the rear-wheel drive version is able to jump to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds (as opposed to 5.0 seconds for the long-range dual-wheel drive version that has been marketed in Israel so far).
The introduction of the basic version of Model Y is an important move for Tesla: until now, to purchase a Tesla off-road vehicle, customers had to part with about NIS 300,000. The introduction of the Model Y in a base version at a price of less than NIS 250,000 makes the model available to a larger audience – including audiences that until now would have purchased a Tesla 3.
