A warship engaged in patrolling in the Gulf of Thailand capsized and sank in the sea on Sunday night.

Thai military warships and helicopters were involved in the search and rescue of the missing 31 naval personnel on Monday.

The Royal Thai Navy reported that 75 people were rescued safely in the incident. However, as of Monday afternoon, 31 sailors were still missing.

Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha said the cause of the incident was being investigated.

“I am following this news closely. Around five people sustained serious injuries,” he said.
