On Monday, the US Embassy in Baghdad congratulated the success of the Kurdistan Region’s elections, while noting that the formation of a new government will allow the Kurdistan Region to strengthen its democratic institutions, advance human rights, and support economic development.
A statement from the embassy – received by the (INA) – stated, “The United States congratulates the citizens of the Kurdistan region of Iraq and all political forces on the successful completion of the region’s parliament elections.”
The statement added, “Employees of the American mission in Iraq monitored the electoral process in various polling centers in the region during the days of October 18 and 20.”
The statement continued, “We commend the citizens of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq for their commitment to democracy.”
The statement pointed out, “The formation of a new government will allow the Kurdistan region to strengthen its democratic institutions, advance human rights, support economic development, and enhance the region’s work as part of a safe, stable, and sovereign Iraq.”
