Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani stressed the importance of the Enduring Baghdad Forests⁣ Project in providing a recreational haven and green spaces for the Iraqi⁤ family.

Al-Sudani stated, in his speech⁤ during the​ work launch ceremony, according ⁤to‌ the ⁣statement,⁢ that “the project is the first project‌ of⁣ its ‌kind to ‌be implemented in⁢ Iraq, in terms ⁢of type, area, ⁣and activities, and it will also be the‍ first in ⁣the region,” stressing “the partnership with ⁤the technically capable private sector.” And ‌financially ‌in its implementation.”

Al-Sudani said, according to the statement, that⁢ “environmental challenges‌ and pollution are a problem facing Iraq⁢ and the world, in light of ​the increase in desertification, the disappearance⁢ of vegetation from⁢ many ⁤lands, and the decline in river levels,” stressing that “there is an unjust use of green lands‍ by converting them ‍into residential and other ⁢projects, in addition to pollution in all​ governorates.” ​And in ⁣the⁢ south because of gas burning, which is a challenge that ⁢the government is working to stop.”
He pointed out ‌that ⁣”the environmental file is one⁢ of the most prominent ​priorities in the government program, and we‌ worked⁢ on it on several axes, activities and events,” adding:‌ “We launched strategic projects to reduce emissions, at the level of treatment and water purification plants, to preserve river water.”
He continued,”We stipulated‌ in all investment permits for residential complexes and cities that there be large areas ⁤allocated as green areas and vegetation,” pointing out that “the (Al-Rashid⁤ Camp) project ‍is​ of interest⁢ to real‌ estate developers,and‌ more than one investment permit ⁢for residential cities has previously ⁢been referred‍ to this site.”
He stated,​ “After assuming government ​duties, we studied‌ the redistribution of activities, especially in baghdad, which lacks green lands,” stressing that “Al-Rashid ⁢Camp has administrative ‌problems, and ‌the decision was ⁢issued​ to​ convert the entire area of ⁢​​5,000 dunums into a recreational forest ‍and green spaces.”
He ​continued: ‍”We have begun implementing and completing the procedures, and approvals have been prepared⁢ from all ministries, and violations have been removed, with alternative​ solutions,” noting that “this project has great importance from an environmental standpoint for the‍ capital, and⁣ provides a refuge for Iraqi families in Baghdad.”
He explained, “We were keen⁣ to provide‌ the​ necessary means for these projects, within a plan that addresses environmental distortions in Baghdad and the governorates.”
