As reported by İdman.biz, 304 seniors and 237 juniors from Azerbaijan, Iceland, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Great Britain, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Sweden will perform at the National Gymnastics Arena.
“The best of the best are coming to Azerbaijan, offering an exciting combination of experience and fresh energy! The nomination list includes 7 members of the 2022 All Stars Team: Nicole Hosseini (Sweden), Brindis Gudnadottir (Iceland), Agnes Arvidsson (Sweden), Asta Kristinsdottir (Iceland), Holly Barbour (UK), Tofik Aliyev (Azerbaijan) and Connor Wharram (UK). Aliyev won a silver medal at the European Tumbling Championships. He, along with Adil Hajizadeh, were also part of the historic victory of the Azerbaijani team at the 2023 World Cup,” notes EG.
The format of the competition is also discussed.
“At the European Championships, competitions are held for men’s, women’s and mixed teams, both in the junior and senior age categories. Each team must consist of 8-10 gymnasts, as well as up to 2 reserves. A mixed team must be split 50/50 on each apparatus/round.
Each team competes in floor exercise, acrobatic exercise and trampoline. The total score of these three types determines the final ranking. The final standings of the qualifying rounds determine which teams advance to the finals, where scoring starts from zero,” the EG website emphasizes.
