The international contest’Illustraciencia‘, organized each year by the Higher Council for Scientific Research and the Catalan Association of Scientific Communication, was born in 2009 with the aim of disseminating and showing the work of those who are dedicated to bringing science closer to society through their artistic creativity.
Birds that make more noise than a moving train when they sing, an aquatic plant that ‘devours’ beetles, fibers that connect the different parts of the brain or a high mountain moss threatened by climate change, are some of the works selected among the more than 500 proposals submitted to its current edition, which this year celebrates its tenth anniversary.
Among the winners, an infographic on Neolithic tombs, a watercolor of the dormouse that inhabits Europe or a drawing of the surprising forms that human neurons can take, stand out, and which, together with another 40 selected works, will form part of a traveling exhibition that will begin its tour on June 30 at the National Museum of Natural Sciences. In this gallery we show you the winners in each of the categories of this artistic contest with a lot of science… or perhaps, of this scientific contest with a lot of art…
