The Palatinate team achieved a very important victory after difficult weeks. The guests also have chances in the final phase. One man puts Lautern on the road to victory.

1. FC Kaiserslautern has sent a clear sign of life in the 2nd Bundesliga. The “Red Devils” won 3-0 (1-0) against SC Paderborn in the Saturday evening game of matchday 9, ending a drought of five games without a win.

Ragnar Ache (30′) gave coach Markus beginning’s team the lead, Luca Sirch (87′) increased shortly before the end, before Marlon Ritter (90′) finally made everything clear. It was also Lautern’s first home win of the season at Betzenberg. The FCK is now in tenth place in the table with twelve points.

With their first defeat of the season, Paderborn lost the chance to jump to second place in the table, at least for one night. Laurin Curda also saw a yellow-red card after forming a pack (90th+4).

After the dry spell of the past few weeks, FCK managing director Thomas Hengen recently stepped up to the plate and held the players accountable. The Palatinate team successfully relied on a stable defense in the first half. They were also lucky to take the lead: due to a mistake in space, SCP goalkeeper Pelle Boevink lost the ball to Ache, who just had to push it in.

Even after the break, FCK’s defense was initially solid and didn’t let anything happen. But the pressure from Paderborn increased from minute to minute. Sebastian Klaas (60th), Filip Bilbija with a header on the post (71st) and Adriano Grimaldi (84th) missed the best chances to equalize. Sirch and Ritter made the decision late.
