The case against the three men who blackmailed the family of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher for money was scheduled for December 10, the judicial authorities in Germany announced, quoted by DPA.
According to the indictment, one of the seven-time world champion’s bodyguards took numerous photos of Schumacher, who suffered a very severe brain injury when he fell while skiing in the French resort of Meribel at the end of 2013 and has not been seen in public since then, writes BTA .
“He is accused of possessing numerous photographs and video files purporting to show Michael Schumacher,” the judicial authorities announced.
The bodyguard is a 53-year-old man from Wolfrath, near Wuppertal, where the case will begin. Another man, also 53, blackmailed the Schumacher family along with his 30-year-old son. They demanded a bribe of 15 million euros, otherwise they threatened to sell the photos and video files to other people.
According to information, the data was downloaded to two hard drives and four USB devices. They have photos and video files dating from before and after Schumacher’s accident. The drives are believed to contain 900 photos and 583 video files.
