The commander of the combined-arms formation of the Eastern Military District, Lieutenant-General Valery Solodchuk, within the framework of the All-Russian action “Christmas tree of desires”, fulfilled the request of the son of one of the military personnel of the Air Defense Forces stationed in the Republic of Buryatia. This was reported by the press service of the Eastern Military District.
At a New Year’s party for the families of military personnel, the commander removed a ball from the tree, which contained a letter from the boy Cyril, whose cherished desire was the opportunity to shoot from a howitzer.
Lieutenant General Valery Solodchuk fulfilled the student’s request.
“Kirill visited the artillery positions of the Sosnovy Bor training ground, where he several times gave orders for volley fire from the Msta-S self-propelled howitzers of the Air Defense Forces artillery unit by radio communication,” said Colonel Alexander Gordeyev, head of the press service of the Eastern Military District.
The boy saw the combat work of the calculations. The gunners introduced him to the technical characteristics of howitzers and the peculiarities of direct fire. Kirill sat at the regular places of calculations and learned the responsibilities of each member of the calculation of the ACS “Msta-S”.
