Since the early hours of the morning, the city of Tobruk witnessed a depression that caused many homes to sink, close main and secondary roads in the city, and cause serious material damage to the city and its suburbs.

According to the “Roya” platform, which specializes in weather news, “The rain measuring station in the city recorded an average of 61 mm during the past 24 hours, making this depression among the most influential on the region recently.”

The Red Crescent “evacuated a number of homes in Tobruk after they were submerged in the rainwater that the city witnessed.”

The Mayor of Tobruk Municipality, Faraj Bou Al-Khattiya, said: “More than 20 houses were evacuated because they were damaged by the rising water levels, including 4 houses that suffered major damage. We housed the families in a hotel in the city, and there were those who went to stay with their relatives.”

He added in press statements: “Tomorrow, Monday, will be a normal working day, until the weather stabilizes and the rain stops, and the affected residents will be compensated.”
