The details of the decisions were revealed in the apex committee meeting of SIFC

(Owais Kayani) The eleventh meeting of the Apex Committee of the Special Investment Facility Council was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The various measures taken under SIFC were reviewed in the meeting. Army Chief, Federal Cabinet, Provincial Chief Ministers, Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan and high level government officials participated in the meeting.

Secretary Apex Committee briefed the meeting about SIFC’s strategic focus, initiatives and contribution towards National Economic Plan project ‘Udhan Pakistan’ (2024-2029). Expressing satisfaction over the improving macroeconomic conditions of the country, the committee emphasized the importance of collective efforts in ensuring sustainable economic growth and bringing the benefits of economic improvement to the people.

The Committee approved the action plan for reforms of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to revitalize Pakistan’s industrial landscape. The committee also reviewed the proposal for the National Minerals Harmonization Framework, developed in consultation with all stakeholders. The forum was briefed on various initiatives in the field of human resource development (HRD), which will help to upscale the skills of the workforce to global standards.

The Chief Ministers gave a briefing regarding the ongoing initiatives in their respective provinces which will promote economic development.

The Chief of Army Staff assured Pakistan Army’s firm commitment to support the Government’s measures for economic stability, which will help in improving law and order and security.

Finally, the Prime Minister appreciated the role of SIFC, Ministries, Departments and associated stakeholders in formulating strategies for future activities during 2025. He also emphasized the importance of collective efforts at all levels in the larger interest of the country.
