The European Central Bank (ECB) on Thursday lowered its growth forecasts in the euro zone for 2023 and 2024, due to the tightening of monetary policy which increases borrowing costs. The institution’s new macroeconomic projections forecast growth of 0.6% in 2023 – compared to 0.7% previously – then 0.8% in 2024 and 1.5% in 2025 as well as in 2026.
