A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received by the (INA), stated that “Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein accompanied a delegation from arab and foreign diplomatic missions in Iraq on a field visit to Basra Governorate, were he confirmed during the visit that Basra was and will remain in the forefront, describing “it is indeed the mother of iraq, which is regaining its health through its stability and economic renaissance.”
According to the statement, the minister expressed his “thanks to the people of Basra and its governor, Asaad Al-Eidani,” praising “the efforts made by the provincial council to achieve development. He also affirmed the government’s commitment to supporting Basra in all possible ways, expressing his happiness with the great development that the city has witnessed, especially in terms of Modern infrastructure and development projects.
The minister said: “I congratulate the people of Basra on their governor, Asaad Al-Eidani, who succeeded in leading the construction and reconstruction process and strengthening balanced relations with neighboring countries.”
For his part, Al-Eidani pointed out that “there is a collective determination to make Basra a leading center linking the East and the West,” stressing that “the city will be the ‘jewel of the Arabian Gulf’ in the near future.”
