The foreign minister of North Korea is visiting Russia

North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui left Pyongyang for a visit to Russia. This was reported by Reuters, referring to yesterday’s information from the North Korean news agency KCTA.

Reuters notes that the North Korean minister will visit Russia at a time when there is much talk of increasing cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang over the war in Ukraine.

KCTA reported that a delegation led by Choe went on an official visit to Russia, writes BTA.

NATO, South Korea, Washington and Kiev confirmed that North Korea had sent troops to Russia and said North Korean military units were stationed in Russia’s Kursk region, near Russia’s border with Ukraine.

The Pentagon said North Korea has sent 10,000 soldiers to training in eastern Russia.

US President Joe Biden described the situation as “very dangerous”.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, after a meeting yesterday with a South Korean delegation, said that deepening ties between Moscow and Pyongyang are a threat to security in both the Euro-Atlantic space and the Indo-Pacific region.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, in a phone conversation with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, has said that North Korean soldiers may be deployed on the front line in Ukraine sooner than expected.
