The Four Sources Path on the Gotthard

We manage the first climb in 19 minutes. We take it sitting, on the cushions of the Matterhorn-Gotthard railway, whose gears mesh so well with the rack that we purr silently up the mountain. Below us lie lush alpine meadows, as if straight out of a piping bag. With every bend comes another and Andermatt is reduced to a toy city. The pleasure of the short mountain trip is an amuse-bouche, a greeting from the great Swiss hiking cuisine, because the Four Sources Trail begins at the next station, at the Oberalp Pass.
