State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury said that there is an action plan to send 6 million workers abroad in the next 5 years.

Shafikur Rahman Chowdhury said, ’13 lakh 5 thousand 453 workers were sent abroad last year. Sending workers abroad is an ongoing process. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s foresight and proper and timely diplomatic action created opportunities for immigration and foreign employment for Bangladeshi citizens immediately after independence. In its continuation, the journey of foreign employment began by sending 6 thousand 87 workers.

He said, ‘As a result of the steps taken by the government, the sending of workers abroad is increasing. In 2022, 11 lakh 35 thousand 873 workers left for foreign employment. In 2023, this number has increased to 13 lakh 5 thousand 453 people. There is an action plan to send 6 million workers abroad in the next five years.
