Today, Thursday, Salah al-Din Governor Badr Mahmoud al-Fahal announced the launch of a campaign to lift violations of archaeological sites in the governorate.
Al-Fahal said in a statement to the (INA) – during his participation in the workshop to re-evaluate the boundaries of the Samarra World Heritage Site, which was held in the city of Erbil: “This workshop comes to achieve sustainable urban and urban development, and the recommendations aimed to raise the service and urban level of the city, from During the development of a plan for joint management of archaeological sites between the governorate, the Antiquities Authority and UNESCO, and the inclusion of a project of surveys and excavations to rehabilitate archaeological sites within the buffer zone within the administrative boundaries of the Samarra District, and granting initial approvals for any project within those boundaries by the Antiquities Authority and the rehabilitation and development of the Samarra Museum.
He added, “The issue of protecting antiquities receives our attention, and there is a current campaign launched with the participation of the Salah al-Din police, the mayor, and the municipality to remove all violations.”
Regarding the file of rehabilitation and maintenance of the Al-Malwiya Mosque, (INA) met with Ali Obaid Shalgham, Director of the Antiquities Authority, in a statement to the (INA), that “maintenance work is taking place well and according to the plan set by the Authority, and it is specialized work, and the delay in the work is caused by the need to fully maintain and rehabilitate the stones.” “.
