While the AfD continues to decline in popularity, the Greens are enjoying significant growth. The reason for this could be the espionage case involving Krah’s employee.

The Green Party’s poll numbers rose significantly this week. The situation is different for the AfD, which is struggling with losses. This emerges from the ZDF “Politbarometer” published on Friday.

According to the survey, the Greens got 15 percent and thus gained a full three percentage points. While the FDP remains constant at four percent compared to last week, the majority of the other parties have slipped by one percentage point – including the AfD, which is now at 17 percent. This means that the AfD has achieved its worst poll result since May last year. The CDU remains at the top with 30 percent. In second place is the AfD.

The Sahra Wagenknecht alliance, on the other hand, lost and is at five percent on the edge of the limit for entering the Bundestag for the first time. Meanwhile, the Left is benefiting and at four percent is at least close to the five percent hurdle.

The Greens also did well in the Sunday poll for the European elections. There the party increased by two percentage points to 17 percent and is now two percentage points better off than the AfD, which has 15 percent and also lost one percentage point there. The reason for the AfD’s loss could be the suspicion of espionage by an employee of the AfD’s top candidate for the European elections, Maximilian Krah, who recently made headlines. Here you can read more about it. The other parties remain mostly constant. The CDU/CSU is at 30 percent, and both the Left and the FDP are at three percent. The SPD also lost one percentage point and is now at 15 percent.

A separate survey showed that almost all parties see influence and espionage by Russia and China as a major threat. Only the AfD and the Sahra Wagenknecht alliance appear significantly less concerned.
