The House of Representatives issues a statement on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of the Liberation Declaration

The House of Representatives issued Statement No. (09) of 2024 AD regarding the 13th anniversary of the Liberation Declaration.

The Council said in a statement: “Today, Wednesday, the twenty-third of October, is upon us, the thirteenth anniversary of the Declaration of Liberation, which was achieved on this day in the year 2011, thanks to God Almighty, and then the will of the great Libyan people to be liberated from the authority and rule of the individual and completely transform into a state.” Civil democracy – a state of institutions and law, a state in which the people choose who will rule them through direct ballot boxes in free, fair and transparent general elections.”

The statement added: “The Libyan people are accustomed to commemorating this occasion, which is dear to us all, every year as a reminder of the efforts and struggle in which they made great sacrifices in order for the country and the citizen to enjoy the sweet breeze of freedom under the banner of democracy, justice and fairness.”

The Council pointed out that “the launch of the revolution on February 17, 2011 was the spark that blossomed on October 23 with the declaration of complete liberation in a solemn celebration held in the city of Benghazi.”

The statement continued: “Now, after thirteen years have passed since the Declaration of Liberation, our country today is going through an exceptional phase that requires us all to unite ranks, reject differences, consolidate reconciliation and institutions, respect human rights, and extend the prestige of the state that preserves the independence, sovereignty, security, stability and wealth of the country and restores the Libyan citizen’s dignity and freedom.” And consolidating the foundations of national and societal unity to achieve the goals for which the February 17 Revolution was established, to achieve sound democracy and establish the rule of law.”

He added: “Now, after thirteen years have passed since the Declaration of Liberation, our country today is going through an exceptional phase that requires us all to unite ranks, reject differences, consolidate reconciliation, and consolidate the foundations of national and societal unity to achieve the goals for which the February 17 Revolution was established, to achieve sound democracy and establish the state of law and institutions.” Respecting human rights and extending the prestige of the state that preserves the independence, sovereignty, security, stability and wealth of the country and restores the Libyan citizen’s dignity and freedom.”
