Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Industry issued a directive requiring all brick factories in Baghdad and the governorates to switch to using gas fuel instead of black oil, while indicating that the decision would be implemented within 18 months.
The ministry’s spokeswoman, Duha al-Jubouri, told the (INA): “All brick factories in Baghdad and the governorates have been directed to use gas instead of black oil, starting from the date of issuance of Council of Ministers Resolution No. 24,547 of 2024, and within a period of 18 months.” .
Al-Jubouri explained, “If this transformation is not implemented, the fuel share will be cut off from the violating factories,” stressing “the necessity for all factories to provide the necessary logistical and technical preparations to ensure a complete transition to environmentally friendly operating systems that operate using gas instead of oil.” “Black”.
She pointed out, “Laboratories can obtain loans from government banks to cover the costs of modernizing incineration systems in accordance with the new requirements, with the necessity of adhering to the specified period of 18 months.”
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed in his speech during the Council of Ministers session held last Tuesday that the brick factories in Nahrawan are a hotbed of pollution emissions, and must be converted to using gas or transported outside Baghdad, while he stressed the commitment to implement the recommendations and allocate The necessary funds for the Ministry of Environment to accomplish what is required of it.
