The Inter-American Court of Human Rights deeply regrets the death of Rafael Nieto Navia, who was a Judge of this Court between January 1, 1983 and December 9, 1994, and who served as its President in the periods 1987-1989 and 1993-1994. .

Judge Nieto Navia left an important legacy in the Inter-American System and in the defense of human rights. We regret his death from the Court and send our heartfelt condolences to his family and relatives.
