The Irden bakers’ cooperative represents a pioneering experience in the economic empowerment of women in mountainous areas of the province of Khenifra, having contributed to improving the income of around ten mountain women with a view to ensuring them a decent life and enable them to provide for the needs of their families.
This project, implemented as part of the “Improvement of income and economic inclusion of young people” program of the third phase of the INDH in particular, its component relating to support for the social and solidarity economy, makes a valuable contribution to women rural areas by allowing them to improve their socio-economic conditions and, in turn, strengthening the resilience of the local economy in difficult-to-access areas.
This Project, the total amount of which amounts to 280 thousand DH, of which 168 thousand is the share of the INDH and 112 thousand of the cooperative comprising 8 women bakers specializing in the production of high quality bread and its derivatives.
Through this funding from the INDH, the eight women were able to finance their workshop through the acquisition of the required equipment and equip themselves with a bakery mixer, a state-of-the-art oven, a mixer, a display and other quality tools to perfect their bread.
In a statement to M24, the MAP’s continuous news channel, Khadija Moussaoui, member of the cooperative “Les boulangères de l’Irden”, focused on the important role played by the INDH in improving socio-economic conditions of women from disadvantaged social backgrounds, like this workshop specializing in the production of bread and its derivatives.
Ms. Moussaoui recalled that the INDH has brought new life to women by providing them with favorable working conditions and allowing them to consider the future with great determination and optimism, adding that the work carried out by these women within the cooperative allowed them to generate a decent income and be financially independent.
The INDH recorded a promising record in the province of Khénifra, which resulted in the integration of 267 young men and women into the job market, the creation of 232 companies in order to support entrepreneurial initiatives, welcoming more than 120 cooperatives within youth platforms as well as supporting 30 cooperatives to develop their projects as part of supporting the social and solidarity economy.
