“He is recovering, he is talking, he was able to talk with his wife and his son. » To everyone’s relief, Jean-Luc Laurent, mayor of Kremlin-Bicêtre (MRC), seems out of the woods. A week after his heart attack, his state of health is “constantly improving” according to those close to him.

Elected mayor of the town for the first time in 1995, the 66-year-old man did not present any particular health problems. On the night of Thursday 21 to Friday 22 December 2023, his wife took him to the emergency room of Bicêtre hospital (AP-HP) because he felt unwell, although there were no warning signs. in the preceding hours. It was only once there that he went into cardiac arrest, which allowed a very rapid intervention by the medical profession.

“Out of the zone of uncertainty”

At the start of the week, after a Christmas weekend spent in the intensive care unit, the chosen one regains consciousness. “He recognized relatives, and even asked for their phone, it’s a good sign, after all he’s a workaholic,” smiles his chief of staff. To date, the news is good: Jean-Luc Laurent is “perfectly conscious” and “out of the zone of uncertainty”, according to his family.

However, the convalescence may be long. “We do not yet know if the next municipal council, scheduled for February 8, will be chaired by Mr. Laurent,” confides his office. Until then, the first deputy mayor, Jean-François Delage, will act as interim head of the municipality.
