Acting Chairman of BNP said that autumn Durga Puja is the biggest religious festival of Hindu community in Bangladesh and other countries of the world for a long time. The message of this festival conveys the glimpse of Kashful and winter around Bangladesh in autumn. The festival has been celebrated in Sambar for centuries. In Bangladesh, Durga Puja is always celebrated in a festive atmosphere. And the festival is the manifestation of light from the jewels in the darkness.
Irrespective of the religion of the festival, the festival premises are open to all people, Tariq Rahman said, the doors of the festival premises are never closed. Any religious festival creates a close bond between people and awakens a sense of sympathy and brotherhood among all.
He said, ‘The motto of all religions is patriotism, peace and human welfare. It is the duty of all of us to vow to establish peace and equality in the society against barbaric and violent wars.’
Tariq Rahman pointed out that the underlying message of Durga Puja is to destroy the demons of violence, greed and wrath to establish heavenly peace in the society, where human equality and justice will be ensured. The underlying urge of this worship is to fight against those who want to destroy the society, human civilization, establish misrule, and establish human welfare through persecution and revenge. Everyone should share the joy of the festival of Durga Puja by imbibing that message. Because the scope of the festival is not narrow, rather it is open and universal.
He said, ‘I firmly believe that there should be inviolable provision of equal rights and equal protection for every citizen of Bangladesh irrespective of whether they are Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist or Christian. Our country as a united nation includes all communities of people. So let’s all come together to form a collective community that sets a unique example of ensuring the safety of everyone, regardless of caste and creed.’
Tariq Rahman extended his warm greetings and best wishes to all those involved in this joyous Durga Puja festival and said that this festival should bring peace and harmony in every home and also expand mutual solidarity among all communities.
