Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Hussein, and the new Head of the <a href="http://www.time.news/iraq-achieved-a-historic-achievement-in-ending-the-unami-mission/" title="Iraq achieved a historic achievement in ending the UNAMI mission »”>UNAMI Mission in Iraq and the United Nations Special Representative, Mohamed Al-Hassan, discussed cooperation regarding procedures for gradually ending the work of the UNAMI mission.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement received by the (INA), that “Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, received the new head of the UNAMI mission in Iraq and the Special Representative of the United Nations, Muhammad Al-Hassan, and at the beginning of the meeting, the Foreign Minister welcomed Al-Hassan, expressing his readiness to Iraq to provide all forms of support to facilitate its work tasks.”
She added, “During the meeting, the nature of the relationship between Iraq and the international organization was discussed, and thanks were expressed for the efforts made by the UNAMI mission in supporting Iraq over the previous years. The minister also stressed the importance of preserving the historical relationship between Iraq and the United Nations and its agencies operating in the country.”
She continued, “Means were also discussed to enhance cooperation and coordination with the Iraqi authorities regarding the procedures for gradually ending the work of the UNAMI mission, while confirming Iraq’s readiness to provide the necessary facilities in this regard.”
She noted that “Al-Hassan expressed his thanks for the warm reception, indicating his determination to make every effort to facilitate the safe and gradual transfer of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq.”
