The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Asadi, announced today, Wednesday, the issuance of more than 32,000 cards to beneficiaries within the special meal, while the Social Protection Authority indicated that the majority of the cards are for the disabled category.
The Ministry of Labor said in a statement received by the (INA): “Minister of Labor Ahmed Al-Asadi announced the issuance of a number of smart cards (Key Card) to beneficiaries of social protection departments in Baghdad and the governorates, which numbered 32,592 cards, as part of the special meal for eligible groups for the period from 1 September until October 10, 2024,” indicating that “the cards include categories of people with disabilities, orphans, and diabetics.”
Meanwhile, the head of the Social Protection Authority, Ahmed Al-Moussawi, confirmed, according to the statement, that “the distribution of cards included 26,065 cards for the disabled, 6,329 cards for children with diabetes, and 198 cards for orphans.”
He added, “The authority’s departments continue to receive new people covered by social assistance, and are working to complete the procedures for issuing smart cards to facilitate their receipt of their entitlements, and to ensure the provision of the necessary support to the most needy groups.”
