The Ministry of Justice has included Nobel Prize LLC in the register of media outlets performing the functions of foreign agents, the ministry’s website says. The founders of the publication are Russians who were previously included in this register.
“In this case, we are talking about the conscientious observance of the requirements of the law by these individuals, established for persons included in the register, and aimed at increasing the transparency of their activities,” the Ministry of Justice explained. The ministry also included Oleg Elanchik, editor-in-chief of Sota.Vision, in the register of foreign media agents.
They recalled that, according to Art. 25.1 of the Law “On Mass Media”, it is necessary to register as a media-foreign agent within a month from the date the legal entity is entered into such a register. LLC “Nobel Prize” is subject to inclusion in the register, and its messages and materials that are distributed on the territory of Russia must be marked, added the Ministry of Justice.
The status of a foreign agent has existed in Russia since 2012, when amendments to the law on non-profit organizations were adopted. The media began to be recognized as foreign agents at the end of 2017, and individuals at the end of 2020. In total, since 2017, the Ministry of Justice has included 95 publications and individuals in the register of foreign media agents, most of them this year.
