The Municipality of Ruse is starting to replace the tree vegetation along part of “Mutkurova” Street

by times news cr

In connection with planned repair works on the road and pavement surface along “Mutkurova” street No. 40 (next to “Melnik” block), the Municipality of Ruse will remove 11 decorative trees of the Fraxinus Americana species (ash) along the pavement area. The trees are over 100 years old and are part of Passporting stage II with numbers from 844 to 848 and from 1211 to 1216. This was announced by the press center of the Municipality of Ruse.

The condition of the pavement and road surface is greatly compromised by their surface root system. The roots have lifted the pavement by more than 35 cm, making it impassable and creating serious deformations of the curbs and part of the roadway. These changes significantly disrupt safety and accessibility in the area.

The upcoming repair works on the pavement and the road surface imply the removal of surface roots to a depth of at least 60 cm in order to achieve its necessary technical parameters and the vertical planning of the infrastructure. This procedure, including the cutting of roots and parts of the stem, will lead to a substantial disruption of the mechanical balance of the trees, making them vulnerable to fungal pests and significantly shortening their life.

In addition, the advanced age of the trees and the interventions that will be carried out during the construction work increase the risk of their rapid drying. This can pose a danger to passers-by and buildings in the area during stormy winds, wet snow, waterlogging and drying of the soil.

Specialists are of the opinion that if the trees are preserved and after the repair begin to dry out, their uprooting will be impossible without destroying the newly installed pavement. The large volume of roots will eventually cause the soil to settle, necessitating new repair work.

In view of all these factors, the Municipality of Ruse will take action to remove the trees in this section of “Mutkurova” Street. After the completion of the repair works, young saplings of the Fraxinus oxicarpa (Polish ash) species will be planted in their place, which will guarantee the long-term preservation of the green areas in the area and will ensure new quality landscaping.

The Municipality of Rousse calls for patience and understanding on the part of the citizens during these necessary infrastructure and landscaping activities, which aim to improve living conditions, safety and the aesthetic condition of the street.
