Noz does another great job. The distributor, specialist in clearance, has just purchased the stocks of 22 Habitat stores, a furniture and decoration brand, liquidated last December.

In the coming days, 130,000 items will be offered to customers in some 310 Noz stores in France. Decorative items and furniture, the first to be sold, will be available for an unbeatable price. In fact, the destocker promises a reduction of 60% compared to the original price.

This is not the first time that Noz has gotten his hands on the stocks of companies in liquidation. At the end of March, the Mayenne company announced the sale of 170,000 pairs of shoes from the Minelli brand, in the grip of financial difficulties, at a reduced price. It also put up for sale 141,000 pieces of furniture and decorative objects from the Belgian Made.com warehouse, which went bankrupt in November. In 2022, the distributor bought two million pieces at auction from the Camaïeu brand, which was placed in liquidation.

Habitat is reborn on the Internet

On December 28, the Bobigny court placed Habitat in liquidation due to its serious financial difficulties, thus sealing the fate of the brand which employed 400 employees.

The brand, which had 25 stores in France, was founded in 1964 by British designer Terence Conran (died in 2020), with the aim of offering furniture and decorative objects at an affordable price.

But Habitat is not definitely dead. The furniture brand will now relaunch online, announced Tuesday the Cafom group which had sold the operation of the brand to the buyer Thierry Le Guenic in 2020, but remained the owner of the brand.

The group has entered into a brand licensing agreement with Vente-unique.com. The online furniture sales site, of which Cafom is the majority shareholder, was founded in 2006 and delivers to 11 European countries. He will have the task of “orchestrating the rebirth of the iconic Habitat brand”, with a new range of furniture.

The site habitat.fr should become a commercial site again within “four to five weeks”, indicated Hervé Giaoui, chairman of the board of directors of Cafom, promising the restoration of a “definitive site, with its complete range within around six months” .
