The opening ceremony of the open championship of the Umid and Alpman taekwondo clubs among children, juniors and youth took place.
As reported by İdman.bzi, the event was organized at the Sports and Health Club of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gaibov, Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation (ATF) Hikmet Samedov and ATF officials. Among the guests of honor were MMA fighters Tofig Musayev, Vugar Karamov, sports ambassador Farida Azizova, and vice-president of the Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation Firdovsi Umudov.
After the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Minister Farid Gaibov made a speech. He drew attention to the international competitions held in our country and wished success to the tournament participants.
Later, Khikmat Samedov noted that the tournament would be useful for the further development of the participants.
The ceremony continued with demonstration performances and music.
It should be noted that 649 taekwondo athletes from 45 clubs will take part in the competition. Teams from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Georgia will compete in the tournament, which will end on October 13.
