The operator reported another drop in gas pumping through the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline

by time news

Gas pumping through Yamal – Europe on August 11 fell again, falling by almost 1.5 times compared to the previous day, the German gas transport operator Gascade reported, Interfax reports. Previously, pumping had already dropped due to a fire at a gas plant in Novy Urengoy.

Thus, on average, on August 10, the pipeline supplied 1.5 million cubic meters per hour at the entrance to the German gas transportation system. On the morning of August 11, the flow dropped to 1 million cubic meters per hour.

Gazprom has already cut gas pumping through Yamal – Europe after a fire that took place on the night of August 5 at a gas condensate preparation plant in Novy Urengoy. Then supplies fell for three days in a row. For example, on August 5, pumping through Yamal – Europe was halved – from 1.9-2.1 million cubic meters. m up to 1 million per hour, later pumping increased to about 1.5-1.6 million cubic meters. m per hour, and on Sunday from 7 o’clock in the morning supplies fell by 5%, to about 1.4 million cubic meters. m per hour. On the morning of August 10, supplies increased to 1.8 million cubic meters per hour, but this level remained only for three hours.

The Urengoy plant is not directly linked to the export gas pipeline, but gas cannot enter the export pipe without condensate removal. Condensate is supplied to the plant from the Urengoyskoye and Yamburgskoye fields. Due to the fire, the plant had to completely stop accepting raw materials, which led to a significant decrease in Gazprom’s production – the work of the enterprise is inextricably linked with gas production. The company had to urgently start sampling from underground storage facilities in Europe and Russia.

In addition, as it became known to Vedomosti, Gazprom’s subsidiary, Gazprom Gazonefteprodukt Holding, notified consumers of the suspension of shipments of liquefied petroleum gases (LPG) under direct contracts by rail from August 9.

Yamal – Europe is a transnational trunk export gas pipeline, put into operation in 1999. It connects gas fields in the north of Western Siberia with consumers in Europe. The total length of the gas pipeline exceeds 2000 km, diameter is 1420 mm. The design capacity is 32.9 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The length of the Russian section, passing through the Tver and Smolensk regions, is 402 km with four compressor stations. Further “Yamal – Europe” passes through Belarus, Poland and Germany.
