On Monday night, a fire broke out in the Black Panther business near the Liberec train station. An unknown offender threw a lit canister inside, where the 40th birthday party was taking place. 15 people were injured, seven of them seriously. The owner of the bar, Theodor L., is shocked by the attack. The interior is full of soot after the incident, the floor even cracked from the heat. The owner admitted that he had no idea if he would have the strength to continue the business. Among the injured are mainly Lenárt’s friends and regulars.

“He lit it here. According to the firemen, the fire was in these places, right next to the table where the guests were sitting. You can see that even the pavement cracked from the heat,” the owner of the Black Panther club in Liberec told CNN Prima NEWS.

Theodor is shocked by the incident. Among the injured are his friends and regulars. “It makes me sick, I have goosebumps all over my body. I am gradually realizing what actually happened. Also following what happened in Prague at the Faculty of Arts, I think this is a terrorist attack, he wanted to kill fifteen people,” the owner admitted.

On the fateful evening in Black Panther, bricklayer Zdeněk celebrated his fortieth birthday. He didn’t expect how the celebration would end, not even in his wildest dreams. He himself suffered injuries to his face, hands and feet. “That’s from the way they stepped on me. They just stepped on my foot,” Zdeněk confided. Despite his injuries, he was able to kick open the door after the fire broke out from the explosion of the canister, so that he and other visitors to the celebration could get out of the burning inferno. “But some stayed in the room by the soccer ball, only the firemen had to get them out,” admitted the birthday boy.

More than three dozen people were evacuated from the bar. Fifteen of them were injured, seven of them seriously. According to the director of the Liberec Regional Hospital, Tomáš Roubíček, patients with minor injuries will spend several days in the hospital, while those with more severe injuries may stay in the facility for several weeks. “Severely injured patients typically have burns on their face and hands,” Roubiček added.

Police still don’t know the identity of the man who started the fire at Black Panther. Criminal investigators are dealing with the case on suspicion of a particularly serious crime of public danger. No one has been charged yet.

According to regular guests, it was not the first time the offender had been in the establishment. “He was always sitting there by himself, drinking beer, not talking to anyone much,” specified the birthday boy Zdeněk.
