Zahirul Islam (27), a patient who jumped from the window of the seventh floor of the new building after coming to Dhaka Medical College (DMEC) Hospital for treatment, died.
He died at 4.50 pm on Thursday (March 14) while undergoing treatment in the hospital’s ICU.
The platoon commander of DMK Hospital confirmed this. Ujjal Mia said, he was under treatment in ward number 103 of neuro surgery department. There he was taken to the ICU when his condition deteriorated. Died shortly after being taken there.
The inspector in charge of DMK police outpost with reference to the doctor. Bachchu Mia said, the patient had fractured leg, waist and head. He was under treatment. The body has been kept in the hospital morgue. The matter has been reported to Shahbagh police station.
Earlier on Monday (March 11) night, he was injured after jumping from the seventh floor window of DMK New Building.
Zahirul son of deceased Asaduzzaman and Josna Begum of Baraihati Chakpara village of Pagla upazila of Mymensingh district. He was the eldest of one brother and one sister.
The patient’s younger brother-in-law Niloy Babu said Zahirul worked in a pharmaceutical company. Suddenly he has various problems. Sometimes he used to talk randomly. Later, on the advice of a local doctor, he was admitted to the neuro medicine department of DMK Hospital three days ago. He was under treatment there. His mother Josna Begum was by his side for his service. There was also a child with him. I learned that Zahirul jumped down from the window at the back of the hospital when his mother went to the toilet at around 11 pm.
