The Peshmerga Club won first place in the Arab Clubs Chess Championship, which concluded its competitions in the Omani city of Salalah during the period from the fourth to the ninth of this month of October.
The head of the Iraqi Chess Federation, Dhafer Abdel Amir, said in a statement received by the (INA), today, Thursday: “The Peshmerga Club came in first place out of ten Arab clubs: Barada of Syria, Abu Dhabi of the Emirates, Siham of Al-Marwa of Yemen, Al-Sharjah of the Emirates, and Salalah of Oman.” And the Yemeni Radfan, the Palestinian Union, the Omani Mesira, and the Kuwaiti Union.”
Abdul Amir added, “The Peshmerga Club topped the final standings of the tournament with a perfect mark, collecting 14 points from seven rounds, as its players were able to defeat their competitors in all the rounds they played.”
