The President of the Moroccan Football Federation, Faouzi Lakjaa, confirmed that the final of the 2030 World Cup, which Morocco will organize jointly with Spain and Portugal, will be held in the new Casablanca stadium or in Madrid.
Morocco is planning to build a huge stadium in Casablanca. Its cost will reach about 500 million dollars and its capacity will be 115,000 fans. Construction is expected to be completed in 2028, and it will be the largest in the world.
Lakjaa said during statements to the Spanish newspaper “Marca”: “The 2030 World Cup final will be held in the new Casablanca Stadium or in the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, the headquarters of Real Madrid, with the other stadium hosting the opening match (Casablanca Stadium or Santiago Bernabeu Stadium).”
The President of the Moroccan Federation added: “There is a tripartite committee in order to scrutinize the details and constant communications between us. The 2030 World Cup will be exceptional, bringing together two continents and three countries that love football and are geographically close, and there is an opportunity to show the cultures of the Mediterranean.”
He said: “The final match will either be held in the new Casablanca stadium with a capacity of 115,000 spectators, or in the Santiago Bernabeu in its new look with a capacity of 85,000 spectators, but the matter has not been decided yet.
