Xi stressed that treating others equally is a hallmark of Chinese diplomacy, saying that China has always believed that all countries, big or small, strong or weak, rich or poor, are equal members of the international community.
He said: China strongly supports Nauru in protecting national sovereignty, security and development interests and in independently following a development path that suits its national conditions.
For his part, Nauru’s President David Ading said: It is a great honor to be invited to pay a state visit to China and learn about China’s ancient history, wonderful culture and vibrant development.
He added that not long ago, Nauru decided to stand on the right side of history and resume diplomatic relations with China on the basis of recognizing and adhering to the one-China principle, which is an important milestone in relations between Nauru and China and opens a new chapter in Nauru’s national development and its relations. He explained that his country greatly appreciates China’s commitment to the principle of equality among all countries, regardless of how big or small they are, and is ready to adhere to the one-China principle and continuously deepen cooperation with China.

Ading said that while the world today faces many global challenges, progress and prosperity can only be achieved jointly through solidarity and cooperation, noting that the series of global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping are of great importance.
He added that Nauru is ready to actively participate in the joint construction of the Belt and Road, implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, and to enhance cooperation with China in addressing the phenomenon of climate change.
