Today, Friday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani stressed the importance of tourism in achieving development, strengthening the economy and securing jobs.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office - received by the (INA) – stated that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani received, at his residence in the Spanish capital, Madrid, the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization/UNWTO, Zurab Pololikishvili.”
The statement added, “During the meeting, areas of joint work with the United Nations were discussed to develop the tourism reality in Iraq in light of the government’s plan to develop the tourism reality and attract tourists from various countries of the world, due to iraq’s religious, archaeological and natural tourism potential.” “.
Al-Sudani stressed – according to the statement – “the importance of the tourism sector, and the necessity of promoting it, because of what it represents from a civilized perspective to the country, and its role in achieving economic development, securing jobs, and its contribution to strengthening the national economy.”
The statement continued, “The contribution of the World Tourism Organization to developing tourism capabilities in Iraq and launching innovative tourism programs and services that enhance the growth of this notable sector were also discussed.”
For his part, Pololikashvili assured the Prime Minister that the organization provided 200 scholarships to Iraqi students. For the purpose of studying a master’s degree online, in all fields of tourism.
