Rose thérèse Magalie Georges and Yves Marie Édouard join the team to prepare for the 2025 elections.
This Friday, December 13, 2024, at the Magistracy School, a ceremony was held marking the integration of two new members into the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP). In the presence of the President of the Presidential transitional Council (CPT), Leslie Voltaire, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, the Minister of the Status of Women and Women’s Rights, Pédrica Saint-Jean, and other important figures of the country, Ms. Rose Thérèse Magalie Georges and Ms. Yves Marie Édouard have officially joined the team of CEP.
Representing respectively the human rights sector and the women’s sector,these new figures complete a council already made up of seven members: Schnaida Adely,representative of the Vodou community; Patrick Saint-hilaire,representative of the Episcopal Conference of Haiti; Peterson Pierre-Louis,representative of reformed culture; Marie Florence Mathieu,representative of the university council; Jacques Desrosiers,representative of the journalists’ association; Jaccéus Joseph,representative of the peasant association; Nemrod Sanon,union representative.
In his speech, the president of the CPT, Leslie Voltaire, welcomed the arrival of Ms. Georges and Ms. Édouard, while congratulating all the members of the CEP for their commitment. He recalled the importance of their mission, urging them to accelerate preparations for the holding of elections scheduled for the end of 2025, in accordance with the agreement signed on April 3, 2024.
