The former national leader of Green Ecologist Party (PVEM), Arturo Escobar met in the Senate with the coordinator of the senators of that party, Manuel Velasco after yesterday Escobar y Vega spoke out against the reform presented by the leader of the Morena senators, Adán Augusto López to limit the actions of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) regarding protection, unconstitutionality actions and controversies filed against reforms to the Magna Carta.
Arturo Escobar reiterated that he did not agree with the reform of articles 1 and 103 of the Constitution indicated in the original proposal presented in the Senate, “for me, human rights issues and the possibility that at some point the Court can rule on whether the legislative process was followed in a reform.” However, he clarified that due to the reforms made to the opinion, his opinion changed.

He pointed out that his concerns no longer made sense because they materialized in the modifications made to the original proposal and denied that there was any political pressure after expressing his opinion against the initiative.
He even denied, contrary to Morena, that this reform is due to actions against judicial reform. “I do not agree with those who think that this has to do with judicial reform, judicial reform is already current law, it is no longer a matter of review, it is not a matter of suspension” and he clarified that next year there will be an election of judges.
Meanwhile, Senator Manuel Velasco said that the PVEM legislators had no doubt in voting in favor of said reform. “We were always in favor and the factions have been working in a coordinated manner.”
