At the end of 2024, the representatives of the Unilab rectory, Roque de Albuquerque (rector) and Cláudia Carioca (vice-rector), together wiht the superintendent of Personnel Management (SGP), Rebeca Lima, swore in 14 new employees approved in a competition Public Unilab, of tests, exams and qualifications, on the morning of this Monday (9), in the auditorium of the Campus da Liberdade, in Redemption/CE.
14 new permanent hires were sworn in – 10 teachers and 4 administrative technicians of Education (TAE) – within Unilab, distributed in the following units: Institute of Engineering and Sustainable Development (IEDS), Institute of Languages and Literatures ( ILL), Institute of Rural Development (IDR), Institute of Applied Social Sciences (Icsa), institute of exact and Natural Sciences (Icen), Institute of Engineering and sustainable Development (Ieds), IT Directorate (DTI), Pro-Rector of Culture, Art and Culture (Proex), Pro-Rector of Planning, Budget and Finance (Proplan) and Superintendence of People Management (SGP).
The department heads were present at the ceremony: Lucas Luz (IDR), Elcimar Martins (Icen), Kaline Antonini (Proex), Giancarlo Vecchia (DTI), Jaderlano Jardim (Proplan), Ana Paula Silva (ILL), Sâmia Maluff (Icsa) , Maria Cristiane Souza (Ieds) and other managers, TAE and family members and guests.
After reading the General Term of Inauguration to those present, the superintendent of SGP, Rebeca Lima, emotionally welcomed the presence of all those involved, explaining that Unilab is a living organism, an habitat of creation, expansion and change.“Being part of this environment is also being part of this vital function.”
He congratulated everyone for arriving at this moment, at the inauguration ceremony, the result of so much work and study, so much dedication, as well as so many things they had to give up. Then, he invited everyone to participate in the actions of the university as a whole, “you are part of something bigger. They are all indispensable tools to bring knowledge and opportunities to thousands of people on this side and the other of the Atlantic,” concluded Rebeca.
For the vice-rector and professor of the ILL, Cláudia Carioca, the inauguration of the new employees demonstrates that we have managed to bring people to Unilab who will help us maintain the excellence of the work that Unilab carries out. He added that Unilab is one of the few universities that has 98% of employees with a doctorate. The remaining 2% of the lack of doctors needed to supplement our staff is due to the lack of professional doctors that exist in some areas.

Dean Roque Albuquerque concluded the ceremony by thanking everyone present: teachers, employees, temporary workers, coordinators, directors, vice-rectors, and also family members and new inductees.

Cláudia: Our research initiatives are geared towards addressing pressing social issues. We have established partnerships with othre institutions and organizations to enhance our research capabilities. Our students and faculty actively work on projects that aim to create lasting solutions for local communities.
Editor: it’s great to see education contributing to societal betterment. Switching gears a bit, as we look towards 2025 and beyond, what are your aspirations for Unilab?
Roque: We aim to solidify our position as a leading institution in higher education not just in Brazil, but globally. We want to attract more international students and faculty, enhancing our cultural exchange programs to foster a truly global academic community.
Cláudia: Additionally, we are focusing on enhancing our digital learning platforms to ensure accessibility for all students, enabling them to learn from anywhere in the world.
