The medical, research and educational work of the clinics of the university hospital “Attiko” and its professors is defended by the School of Medicine of the Greek Academy of Sciences, in its announcement, in the wake of publications that followed the complaints of Yiannis Kallianos about the treatment of his father, the who passed away yesterday. It also emphasizes that it offers the same high level of care to all patients.
“The University Clinics and Laboratories of the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens operating at the “ATTIKON” University Hospital since the first day of its establishment 20 years ago offer very high level clinical, educational and research work. The P.G.N. “ATTIKON” enjoys the great trust of Greek citizens, as can be seen from their numerous and daily attendance and its continuous high occupancy, being a center of reference for the whole country” the announcement points out.
“Regarding recent media reports, we emphasize that the Professors of all Clinics and Laboratories, including the Vascular Surgery Clinic and the 2nd Intensive Care Clinic, are internationally recognized and provide the same high level of care to all patients of the Hospital without exception, following guidelines, with results comparable to the best medical centers in Europe. Overall, the P.G.N. “ATTIKON” is a hub of excellence that contributes the most to the upgrading of the Health System of the Country” it is added.
The complaints of Yannis Kallianos
Let’s remember that Mr. Kallianos had blamed the doctors of “Attikon” for his father’s adventure and had declared: “What they did to my father they will pay dearly for.” In the emotional post with which he said goodbye to his father, he named a specific doctor – a professor – who, as he claims, said that the patient is doing well and that he does not need more support.
The ND MP and meteorologist has announced his intention to take legal action.
