by time news

The drug from COVID-19 “Areplivir” for intravenous administration will go on sale in December 2021, said the chairman of the board of directors of the company “Promomed” Petr Bely. Areplivir is the first Russian injectable drug for the treatment of coronavirus. It is designed for hospitalized patients and has a higher efficiency.

“From the beginning of December it will start to go on sale. And we will be able to provide the entire country, all regions of the country. As soon as the country’s health authorities send in applications, we believe that we will be able to produce enough so that there is no shortage and a queue for the drug, “said Mr. Bely (quoted by RIA Novosti). The drug is allowed to be put into civil circulation for five years.

Mr. Bely added that first the drug will be provided to Russia, and then – to other countries. Many countries have shown interest in the drug in tablets. The manufacturer hopes that about 50 countries will also be interested in Areplivir injections.

In June 2020, the Ministry of Health approved the use of Areplivir (international non-proprietary name Favipiravir) to combat coronavirus. The medicine in the form of tablets appeared in Moscow pharmacies last fall. Favipiravir is also available in Russia under the Avifavir and Koronavir trademarks.

Over the past day, 1241 deaths from coronavirus were registered in Russia, which is a record since the beginning of the pandemic. In total, 39 256 cases of infection were detected during the day.
