Berlin – BER Airport has a second terminal, but it is still unused. Now the Berlin CDU parliamentary group is calling for it to be put into operation earlier than planned in order to alleviate the chaos at the new capital’s airport. “Terminal 2 must be opened as early as mid-December 2021 – not until Easter 2022, as the airport company is currently planning,” said CDU economic politician Christian Gräff on Wednesday. In the medium term, BER Terminal 5, the former Schönefeld Airport that was closed in February, will also have to go back online. Transport politician Oliver Friederici called on the Senate to negotiate with the district of Dahme-Spreewald and the state of Brandenburg to improve taxi traffic. “In the event of war, Brandenburg taxis must be banned from entering Berlin,” he demanded.
