Al-Toumi appreciated “the municipalities’ efforts to improve the quality of services provided to citizens,” stressing “the importance of strengthening cooperation between the government and municipalities, and providing the necessary support to municipalities to enable them to play their role in achieving sustainable development.”

He pointed out that “this meeting comes within the framework of the government’s keenness to empower local authorities, enhance their participation in national decision-making, and achieve comprehensive and sustainable development in all regions of the country.”

The meeting discussed “many important issues of concern to local development, most notably the issue of transferring specializations, where it was emphasized the necessity of starting the second phase of the national program for transferring specialties to municipalities, which includes vital sectors such as primary health care, agriculture, quarrying, and social affairs. and urban planning.”

The meeting also discussed “discussing the local revenue file, especially with regard to mechanisms for activating the municipalities’ share of sovereign taxes, and developing coordination mechanisms with the Tax Authority to ensure stable cash flows for municipalities, which contributes to achieving comprehensive local development. Solutions to the problems facing municipalities in managing relevant properties were discussed.” “Local character.”

The meeting touched on “discussing local development projects in terms of the mechanisms for implementing the projects, in order to ensure achieving their goals and providing a positive impact at the municipal level, in addition to reviewing the progress made in the national program for digital transformation, simplifying procedures and organizing work within municipalities, in addition to activating systems.” “Digital collection of local revenues, as well as activating urban planning departments in municipalities.”

At the conclusion of the meeting, “items on the agenda of the next meeting of the Supreme Council of Local Administration were proposed, which will be discussed with the rest of the municipalities.”
