The State Duma asked the Investigative Committee and Roskomnadzor to check the series “The Boy’s Word” and “Food Block”

The Chairman of the State Duma Committee for Family Protection, Nina Ostanina, appealed to the Investigative Committee and Roskomnadzor of the Russian Federation with a request to check the series “The Boy’s Word” for the presence of propaganda of a dangerous lifestyle for teenagers. In her address, Ostanina notes that this fact causes outrage, especially on the eve of 2024 declared by the President of the Russian Federation as the Year of the Family. She asks to check two TV series – “The Boy’s Word” and “Food Block” – for the presence of propaganda of prohibited information that could cause harm to the younger generation and the entire society.

The appeal also refers to an incident that occurred in Irkutsk on December 2, when at the Lisikha stop, teenagers attacked a 15-year-old schoolboy and stabbed him, as a result of which the boy died. The author of the appeal suggests that this murder may be connected with watching the series “The Boy’s Word,” which was reviewed by the teenage criminals who committed this cruel act. She notes that scenes from the series are terrifying and raise concerns that teenagers may begin to romanticize crime by emulating on-screen characters.

In her request to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Ostanina also asks to look into the murder of a schoolboy and find out whether there is a connection between this crime and the TV series containing a similar scene. She also asks to evaluate the actions of the director of the series, Zh. Kryzhovnikov, and other persons involved in its creation and release to a wide audience, including officials of the Russian Ministry of Culture, who gave permission to show this film.
