NASA and the United Arab Emirates’ Mohammed Bin Rashid International Space Center (MBRSC) have announced a new agreement for the Artemis lunar exploration program. The UAE will provide an airlock module for the Gateway lunar station, follows from press release NASA.

The airlock module that MBRSC will develop will allow the crew to perform spacewalks and install and retrieve scientific equipment. Dubai Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed said on social media X that the project is scheduled to be completed by 2030.

MBRSC specialists will also monitor the health of the station. The UAE astronaut will participate in the Artemis mission, the press release clarifies.

The goal of the Artemis program is to create a permanent base on the Moon and simplify manned flights to Mars. More than 20 countries have joined the project. Roscosmos criticized the project due to fears that the United States could establish a military base on the Moon.
