Bills on providing military assistance to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, confiscating Russia’s frozen assets for their actual transfer to Kyiv, as well as introducing additional sanctions against China were approved in the House of Representatives of the US Congress, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.

The final vote was preceded on Saturday – legislators rarely meet on weekends – by a short debate on these bills, which, in essence, are combined into a single package. The initiative to formalize in this form additional allocations from the US federal budget for the military needs of Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan was put forward by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Republican Mike Johnson. On April 17, he presented the texts of the bills included in the package, from which it followed that assistance to Kyiv would be provided on credit. US President Democrat Joe Biden, who initially opposed fragmenting his administration’s request for military assistance to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, subsequently supported Johnson’s initiative.

Now the bill will go to the Senate of Congress, where Democrats have a majority, unlike the House of Representatives. The Democratic faction in the upper house of Congress has already signaled its readiness to ensure prompt approval of the package. The Senate is expected to begin considering it on Saturday. It will then be signed by Biden and become law.
